UROLOGY
Urology encompasses the study and treatment of conditions related to the urinary tract and male reproductive system, often involving pain due to conditions like kidney stones, urinary tract infections (UTIs), prostatitis, or bladder disorders. Research in the crossover of urology and pain management focuses on understanding the mechanisms of pain specific to urological conditions and developing effective strategies for managing this pain. Studies are exploring advanced pharmacologic treatments, including targeted analgesics, as well as minimally invasive procedures and novel therapies like nerve blocks or neuromodulation. Ongoing research also investigates the role of multidisciplinary approaches, combining urology, pain management, and physical therapy, to improve the quality of life for patients suffering from chronic urological pain and enhance recovery outcomes following urological procedures or surgeries.
